摘要： Methods and system are provided for modifying a fluid for oral administration. Typical systems include a reservoir which contains or may be filled with water or other aqueous components. The system also include a container or retention pocket which is integral with or mountable on or in the reservoir. The container holds a soluble beneficial agent, typically an electrolyte or a medicament. The container is adapted to selectively combine a measured amount of the beneficial agent with the aqueous component based upon patient need.

The needle shield assembly (20) includes a needle hub (22) having a needle cannula (30) extending therefrom. A needle shield base (26) is pivotally coupled to the needle hub (22). A locking assembly (32) including a needle engagement member (34) is coupled to the needle shield base (26). One or both of the needle shield base (26) had the locking assembly (32) include a cavity (38) for receiving the needle cannula (30). The needle shield (20) is manufactured by providing a needle shield base (26) and a separate locking assembly (136) including a needle engagement member (34), and connecting the locking assembly (136) to the distal end portion of the needle shield base (26).

摘要： A needle shield assembly (20) including a hinged needle shield (26) is provided. A ramp assembly (37) is provided in proximity to a hinge (160) that connects the needle shield (26) to base assembly (23). The ramp (37) is preferably flexible, and, if compressed, resiliently urges the needle shield (26) to a preferred angular position with respect to the syringe (33). The needle shield (26) is movable between a fully opened position where it is canted at an angle with respect to the syringe (33) and a closed position in which it envelops the needle. One or more locking elements are preferably provided on the needle shield (26) for maintaining it in a locked, needle protecting position.
