    • Self -purging, low force opening, aerosol valve system with an orificed valve stem groove and gasket forming a first valve for product and propellant, or propellant, flow. A check valve element, biasing element and housing first opening form a second valve for product flow. Actuating the valve stem sequentially opens first valve and then second valve. After actuation, second valve closes before first valve, and propellant from housing second opening purges valve stem and actuator until first valve closes. No first valve closing return spring acts directly on valve stem, allowing easy opening. Gasket in stem groove and product and propellant flow fully close first valve after second valve closes. High solid and/or resin content products can be dispensed through an actuator with mechanical break-up insert.

    • An aerosol powder valve (10) has a valve body (21) below a groove (55) with a plurality of vertical splines (40) having minimal area top surfaces (41) abutting a gasket (25) in a closed position (Fig.2). The groove (55) has a top annular surface (56), an intermediate neck portion (57) with the valve orifice(s) (23), and a lower annular surface (58) extending downwardly and outwardly at a sharp angle to the horizontal from the neck portion to the valve body (21) to join the valve body outer circumference at the level of the tops of the splines. The sharply angled annular lower groove surface (58) is frustoconical or convex, and has no horizontal or concave components for powder accumulation. The gasket seals the groove lower surface in the closed valve position and wipes the groove lower surface outwardly when the valve moves from open to closed so powder on the groove falls into the circumferential spaces between the splines.

    • A preassembled aerosol actuator assembly (10) and a method of in-line capping the assembly to an aerosol container (11). A shell has a discrete spray button (50)reassembled into a cocket. The button has an upwardly extending interior passage (59) with a wide lead-in converging upwardly to terminate in a shallow valve stem-sealing socket (60). The bottom of the button has no obstructions and no unintended stem-capturing openings. The button socket (60) has a side spray slot (43) closed at the bottom by a radiused flap (70). Heat-dissipated interior channels are cored from the button top down into the button.

    • An aerosol valve assembly (10), lacking a return spring and dip tube, has a valve housing (30) and a valve body (40) with a lower portion (42), an intermediate portion (43) and a valve stem (41). A gasket (60) in a stem groove (45) seals one or more orifice openings (47) into the valve stem except on valve actuation. The valve housing has a lower wall (32) with a central opening (33) for the valve body lower portion (42) to enter to stabilize the vertically acting valve; and, a plurality of product delivery openings (33) positioned about the central opening. A stroke-limiting surface (53) on the valve body prevents the gasket from completely escaping the stem groove on valve actuation. When valve actuation ceases, the valve is returned to closed position by the gasket acting against the stem groove, and the product acting against the valve body bottom portion (42) and the lower surface of the valve body intermediate portion (43).
