    • A filter assembly for removing material entrained in a fluid stream includes a housing having a head part (6) and a body part (8), and inlet and outlet ports (48,50) for the fluid that is to be filtered, in which at least one of the ports is provided in the head part, the head part having a chamber port (56) fluidly connected to the at least one port in the head part, the head and body parts having first formations which enable them to be connected to one another and separated by relative rotation. The assembly includes a filter element (10) for removing material entrained in the fluid stream that can be received in the body part, the filter element and body part having second- formations which restrict relative rotation between them, the filter element having a filter port (22), in which a fluid tight connection can be provided between the filter port and the chamber port by sliding one of them into the other along a first axis. One of the head part and the filter element provides an inclined (surface 94) which is inclined relative to the first axis, and the other provides an ejector part (80) which can act against the said inclined surface (94) so as to push the filter element away from the head part as the head part and the body part are separated by relative rotation, so as to free the filter port from the chamber port.

Head and body part keying formations can be provided in the form of at least one recess which is provided in a rib on one of the head and body parts, and at least one projection which is provided on the other of the head and body parts. The keying formations require alignment of the head and body axes for initial assembly of the head and body parts when the projection is can be received in the recess in the rib so as to restrict relative rotation of the head and body parts, and so that the head and body parts can then to be moved to an assembly position in which the projection has passed through the rib so that the head and body parts can be rotated relative to each other to allow the engagement formations to become engaged to one another.

    • An assembly for collecting material that is entrained in a gas stream comprises a housing having a head part and a body part, and inlet and outlet ports for the gas that is to be filtered. At least one of the ports (the "chamber port") is provided in the head part which has internal walls which define a primary chamber within the head part having a first end communicating with the chamber port and an opening at a second end. The ayes of the first and second ends of the primary chamber are non-aligned. The assembly includes a flow conduit device. The flow conduit device has a first end which can fit into the primary chamber in the head part of the housing through the opening at the second end so that it is directed generally towards the chamber port in the housing and a second end which is directed towards the body part of the housing to provide a conduit for gas to flow between the body part of the housing and the outlet port. The flow conduit is configured to reduce turbulence in the flow of gas within the said chamber between the chamber port and the body part of the housing resulting from the non-alignment of the said axes. The assembly includes a seal between the wall of the primary chamber in the head part of the housing and the flow conduit device.

    • This invention relates to a filter assembly for removing material that is entrained in a gas stream. The filter assembly comprises a housing which comprises head and body parts, with an inlet port in the head part for a gas stream to flow into the housing, the head and body parts having formations which enable them to be connected to one another and separated by relative rotation. The filter assembly further comprises a filter element which can be fitted within the housing. The filter element comprises a wall of a filtration medium which defines a hollow space for a gas stream to flow from the space through the wall to be filtered, and an end cap with an inlet which can be sealed to the inlet port in the head part of the housing to provide a flow path for a gas stream to be supplied from the inlet port in the housing to the said space. The filter element fits into the body part of the housing, and the end cap and the body part have interengaging formations in the form of at least one rib and at least one groove, arranged so that the rib can be slid into the groove when the filter element is fitted into the body part, and so that the filter element rotates with the body part relative to the head part.

    • A coalescing filter element for removing liquid droplets from a gas stream comprises a wall which is made of a coalescing filtration material and which defines a hollow space within it. An end cap at one end of the element has a port in it through which gas is supplied to the hollow space to flow through the wall of the filtration material.
