摘要： Lighting devices, and methods of manufacturing the same, are provided. A lighting device includes a cover through which emitted light passes and a formed flexible light engine. The formed flexible light engine is placed within a housing, or serves as the housing itself. An interface couples to cover to the housing or the formed flexible light engine. The formed flexible light engine includes a flexible substrate and a plurality of solid state light sources located thereon. The plurality of solid state light sources are configured to emit light through the cover. The formed light engine has a defined shape created during the forming process. This enables placement on the housing within the lighting device, or contributes to the overall shape of the lighting device.

摘要： An edge-lit light panel (1) is disclosed, which includes a generally planar, transparent light guide (2). Light, such as from one or more solid state light source arrays (7), is coupled into the light guide (2) through its lateral edge, and propagates generally laterally within the light guide (2) via total internal reflection. A diffuser (6) is attached to the front or rear face of the light guide (2), such as by lamination. The diffuser (6) may have a refractive index matched to that of the light guide. The light guide (2) may have one or more concave features on its lateral edge to reduce reflection losses at high angles of incidence. The concave features may include a single, one- dimensional groove that includes all the solid state light sources along a particular straight edge of the light panel, or may include a series of concave dimples, with one dimple for each solid state light source.

The diffuser (110) has a linear shape comprising a partial tube with a longitudinal opening along its length. The elongated circuit board tray (102, 202) comprises a polymer material and has opposed longitudinal wing-like projections (120, 220) extending along its length and a flat bottom base (116, 216) between the projections. The circuit board tray (102, 202) is attached to the diffuser (110) at a longitudinal edge of each projection (120, 220) to form a tubular lamp body and the circuit board (130) is mounted to the base of the circuit board tray (102, 202). Preferably, the LEDs mounted to the circuit board (130) are located approximately at the circumference of the tubular body when the circuit board (130) is mounted in the tray (102, 202) so that diffusion of the light emitted by the LEDs may be improved.

The formed lighting device includes a formed flexible substrate having a shape, and a stretchable conductive trace located on the formable flexible substrate. A plurality of solid state light sources are attached to the stretchable conductive trace. The shape of the substrate, and thus the lighting device, extends in three dimensions and includes a three-dimensional structure that beam shapes light emitted from one of the solid state light sources. The three-dimensional structure may be a plurality of peaks and a corresponding plurality of valleys. A set of solid state light sources in the plurality of solid state light sources may be located in the plurality of valleys.
