摘要： An auxiliary device (10) for use with a UE device (12) such as a mobile phone, including: an interface (10a) with the UE device (12), providing at least part of an AUX-UE coupling (11a)--a wireless or plug connection--to the UE device (12); and a short-range transceiver (10b) (e.g. a Bluetooth transceiver), coupled to the interface (10a) with the UE device (12), for wirelessly communicating with short-range transceivers of peer devices (i.e. devices operated by users). The UE device (12) includes an AUX user interface (14b) providing a user interface to the apparatus (10) and operative in combination with a UE user interface (14a) included as part of the UE device (12). The short-range transceiver (10b) of the auxiliary device (10) typically has a longer range than is usual for such a transceiver. The auxiliary device (10) typically includes components enabling various user-user communications/ interactions with nearby peer devices.

The tactile module responds to an isolated tactile stimulus by a first user, for providing a tactile module signal containing information about the stimulus, and also responds to a wireless connection module signal containing information about a reply stimulus signal from a second user, for providing a reply stimulus that can be sensed by the first user. 摘要： A headset (1) comprises a body (3) and a boom (4), on which a microphone is located. The boom (4) is mounted so that the position of a microphone (5) relative to the body (3) can be adjusted. The headset 1 further comprises a controller (15) arranged to process an electrical signal generated by the microphone (5) by equalizing components corresponding to high and low audio frequencies in accordance with the detected position of the microphone (5). For instance, low frequencies may be preferentially attenuated if the microphone (5) is used when the boom (4) is in a retracted position. Optionally, the controller (15) may also adjust the gain of the microphone (5) in accordance with the position of the microphone (5). The headset (1) may be used to communicate with an external device (2) using a wired or wireless connection. For example, the headset (1) may convey signals to and from a mobile telephone using the Bluetooth® protocol and/or may be used for Push-to-Talk applications.

An electroluminescent foil (36) overlies a thin, rigid support base (30), and an insulating foil (38) overlies the electroluminescent foil (36).
