摘要： A sensing apparatus (110) and method allows a patient (10) to control an object by asserting a motor unit action potential. An electromyogram sensor (112) is configured to be placed at a selected location on the patient (10) and to sense a motor unit action potential from the patient (10). The electromyogram sensor (112) is also configured to generate an EMG signal representative of the motor unit action potential. A personal area network transmitting device (116) that is responsive to the EMG signal is configured to generate a wireless signal that corresponds to the EMG signal. A personal area network receiving device (120) is configured to receive the wireless signal and to convert the wireless signal into an electrical signal. A processor (130) is configured to receive the electrical signal and to generate at least one control signal that has a value corresponding to a state of the electrical signal.

The computer (16) is in communication with the electromyogram interface (102) and the computer display (12), and is programmed to sense a first input from the first electromyogram interface (102), change a first computer control attribute in response to a state change sensed in the first input, and generate a preselected cursor action in response to a change in the first computer control attribute.
