摘要： An improved swing-motion truck (10) in which the transom has been replaced by a pair of transverse radius or tie rods (40, 42) for coupling the two rocker seats (22) of the two side frames (12) of the truck. The ends of the rods (40, 42) are directly coupled to anchor brackets (46, 48) formed as part of the side-frame rocker seats (22) via an elastomeric connection (60, 62). The suspension springs (30) of the railway freight car truck are seated directly upon the upper flat surface of the two rocker seats (22) of the side frames (12) of the truck (10), so that lighter-weight freight cars may be accommodated, without a friction-dependent coupling between the rocker seats (22) and rods (40, 42) interconnecting the rocker seats (22), and where an overall lower height truck results to provide a low-deck car. The cooperating limit stops (50) for lateral motion of the truck are mounted directly on the rocker seats (22) themselves.

摘要： An improved articulated connector or coupler in which the connection between the male connecting member (24) and female connecting member (22) via a king pin (30) is provided with an elastomeric bushing (44) housed in the male connecting member. The bushing has an outer metallic ring (46), and inner metallic ring (48), and a middle ring (50) of elastomeric material, by which a coupling free of uncontrolled slack is achieved and by which all normal draft and buffing, as well as train-action and angling, forces, are damped and partially absorbed by the elastomeric ring (50). For excessive loads, in order to protect the elastomeric ring (50), over solid metal-to-metal stops (52) are provided which shunt the force transmittal from the elastomeric ring (50) to metal stop-surfaces (52). The king pin (30) is also frusto-conical in shape at the intermediate portion (30") thereof passing through the bushing (44) of the male connecting member (24), which bushing (44) has a similarly-shaped frusto-conical passageway.

摘要： A linkage-actuator for the coupler knuckle-assembly of a railway passenger car which is mounted directly on the coupler head (13) adjacent to the knuckle-assembly (14). The linkage-actuator (18) does not extend along the shank (12) connecting the knuckle-assembly (14) to the car proper, thereby saving considerably on space and weight. The notatable operating rod (20) for placing the knuckle (14') into its lock-set or fully open position is actuated by a pivotal plate (22) mounted on top of the coupler head (13). One end of the plate is urged into its non-actuated, horizontal position by a spring (30), while the other end of the plate (22) is connected to an eccentric cam (32) that is coupled to the rotatable actuating rod (20) of the knuckle-assembly (14). An air bellows (40) lifts the end of the plate (22) to place the knuckle (14') into its lock-set or fully thrown position.
