    • A wireless communication unit (CU) (fig. 4), corresponding network controller (fig. 5), and methods (fig. 8, etc.) operate to route calls and facilitate a call handover from one wireless network to another. The CU comprises a transceiver (403) suitable to support an air interface with a first and second wireless communication network (304, 305); a memory (415) operable to store information (431) suitable for identifying an enterprise controller; and a controller (405) configured to facilitate setting up a call. The controller thereafter if the call needs to be handed over from one to another of the first and second communication network, uses the information to facilitate identification of a unique one of a plurality of enterprise controllers for effecting a hand over of the call.

    • The present invention relates to a method and system of a method and system for leveraging a 3G authentication to obtain a 2G authentication for a mobile station (135) using a provisional authentication agent (140). The mobile station (135) first establishes a provisional authentication (210, 215) in the 2G wireless communication system (105) using a second set of authentication parameters and based on the provisional authentication, negotiates a 3G authentication (220) with a 3G wireless communication system (115) that the mobile station was previously operating in and had authenticated to. Using the first set of authentication parameters received from the 3G wireless communication network (115), the mobile station (135) completes a true 2G authentication (230) in the 2G wireless communication system (105).

    • Circular call forwarding loops are prevented for a communications unit (12) capable of operating in a first communications network (14) and a second communications network (16) within a loosely coupled network, and respectively having a first network number and a second network number, as well as a first network voice mail. A call directed to the first network number (50) is forwarded to the second network number (52) when the communications unit is not operating in the first network. A first network voice mail number (P3) may be associated with calls so that calls are forwarded directly to the first network voice mail (56) when received at the first network (54). Alternatively, when a call is subsequently received from the second communications network and data of the subsequently received call matches data of the initial or forwarded call, the subsequent call is forwarded to the first network voice mail.
