摘要： A wearable electronic product (50) includes an electronic host device (52), at least one peripheral device (54) that selectively couples and decouples to the electronic host device and activates independently of the electronic host device, and means (51) for wearing the wearable electronic product by a user. The peripheral device can activate automatically (107) upon being decoupled from the electronic host device and can also activate independently (109) of any other peripheral device. In this regard, the peripheral device can automatically sense (104) the need for its own power source to become active and can optionally automatically sense the need for activating a new wireless link (108) to the electronic host device using its own power source (57) when selectively decoupled from the electronic host device.

摘要： Charging systems (10, 70) are disclosed that generally employ forces generated by at least one magnet (16-22) or (76-82) to guide and urge a rechargeable, portable or mobile electronic device (12, 72) toward a charging position with respect to a charging base (14, 74) therefor. By using magnetic forces to guide or urge the device (12, 72) to the charging position, substantially frictionless charging systems (10, 70) can be provided herein for shifting the device (12, 72) to its charging position. Either repulsion or attraction forces can be employed. Accordingly, depending on which magnetic force is used to urge the device (12, 72) to its charging position, an opposite magnetic force is preferably provided to provide the user a tactile indication of improper alignment of the device (12, 72) and charging base (14, 74). Preferably, pairs of opposite single pole magnets are used so that there is one pair (16, 18) or (76, 78) associated with the device (12, 72) and another pair (20, 22) or (80, 82) associated with the base (14, 74).

摘要： A wireless communication product (10) can include an electronic host device (12) having a transceiver (13) for wide area communications and a modular peripheral device (30) having a speaker (31), a microphone (33) and a display (37) serving at least as a speaker and a display for the wireless communication product when attached to the electronic host device and the speaker and the microphone serving as a wireless headset and the display serving as an activation button when detached from the electronic host device. The display can serve as a push-to-connect activation when the modular peripheral device is undocked from the electronic host device. The modular peripheral device can include a hook shaped portion (39) formed between the display and the speaker enabling the modular peripheral device to grasp the electronic host device when serving as the speaker or the user's ear when serving as the wireless headset.

In one embodiment, the electronic host device can be a phone and the circuitry can provide any number of functions including the function of charging a power source within the phone.

The device can be formed so that reactions by the photochromic compounds within the device are controlled solely by the ultraviolet light sources (54 and 60) within the device.

A host device can be a phone, a wristwatch, a camera or video phone, an MP3 player, a heart rate monitor, a game controller, a toy, a stroller, or a crib among other devices.
