摘要： A comprehensive solution is provided for multi-carrier scanning and handover operations in OFDM wireless systems. A multi-carrier scanning is any scanning operation that involves multi-carrier radio frequency carriers. In one embodiment, a mobile station communicates with a servi ng base station over a primary carrier, and performs scanning over one or more determined carriers. A multi-carrier handover is any handover operation that i nvolves multiple radi o frequency carriers. In a first embodiment, a break-before-entry (B BE) handover procedure with fast synchronization is provided. In a sec ond embodiment, an entry-before-break (EBB) handover procedure through unav ailable intervals is provided. In a third embodiment, EBB handover procedures for both inter-FA and intra-FA using multiple carriers are provided. Finally, in a fourth embodi ment, intra-BS handover procedures are provided. The multi-carrier ha ndover procedures may be app lied to 2-to-2 or N-to-N carriers handover situation. The overall scanning time and handover interruption time may be reduced throug h the provided procedures.

摘要： A method for transmitting system information bit streams of one or more base stations in a wireless communicat ion system is provided. The method includes: identifying network-entry- related bit streams and non-network-entry-related bit streams from the system information bit streams, where the network-entry-related bit streams carry essential system information for a terminal to access a network through at least one of the base stations; modulating the network- entry-related bit streams according to a first set of modulation and coding sch emes (MCSs) and modulating the non-network-entry-related bit streams according to a second set of MCSs; and transmitting the system information bit streams with different frequen cies, where the network- entry-related bit streams are periodically transmitted according to a first predeter mined period.

A first radio module provides a first wireless communications service and communicates with a first communications device in compliance with a first protocol. A second radio module provides a second wireless communications service and communicates with a second communications device in compliance with a second protocol. A Co-Located Coexistence radio manager detects activities of the first radio modules, obtains a first traffic pattern describing downlink and/or uplink traffic allocations of the first radio module from the first radio module, and generates a second traffic pattern of the second radio module according to the first traffic pattern to coordinate operations of the first and second radio modules. The second traffic pattern describes recommended downlink and/or uplink traffic allocations to a plurality of sub-frames for the second radio module, and each sub-frame defined by the second protocol includes Orthogonal Frequency Di vision Multiplexing symbols.
