    • A lock arrangement for a door (14) of a goods compartment access opening (12) has a bolt (32) for mounting on a frame member (19) of the compartment (11), the bolt (32) being provided with a pneumatic actuator for withdrawing the bolt from a keep (17) mounted on the door (14). An electrically-operated valve (51) is provided for the actuator and a control unit (50) provided within the housing serves to operate the valve. The control unit (50) receives a digital coded signal from a remote signal source (55) and only when the correct signal is received is the valve (51) operated to withdraw the bolt (32) from the keep (17) and so open the door (14). The remote signal source (55) may require the use of a mechanical, electrical or electronic key or smart card, or may be triggered wirelessly by a transmitter (57).

    • A power-controlled lock mechanism has a bolt (61) rotationally mounted in a housing (60) and having an end portion (76) projecting from the housing (60) with a ramp surface (77), an actuator (62) being arranged to rotate the bolt (61) between diametrically opposed first and second settings. A striker (67) is arranged for transverse movement with respect to the housing (60) so that an abutment surface (74) of the striker (67) may engage behind the bolt when the mechanism is in a locked setting, the striker (67) being mounted for movement generally parallel to the axial direction of the bolt (61) and spring urged towards the bolt. When the bolt is engaged with the abutment surface (74) of the striker (67), the lock may be released by rotating the bolt so that the ramp surface (77) thereof interacts with the striker, to move the striker against its spring force and release the bolt.
