摘要： A composition comprises a sulphur free reaction product of: (a)(i) a hydrocarbyl substituted aromatic compound containing an acidic group selected from the group consisting of a carboxylic group, a hydroxyl group and mixtures thereof; and (a)(ii) an organic nitrogen-containing base reacted with the acidic group. The composition is obtained by a preparatory process and is useful in a method for lubricating an internal combustion engine to include where the lubricant has reduced levels of sulphur, phosphorus and sulphated ash.

摘要： A fuel additive composition includes a reaction product of a succinic acylating agent and a polyamine having at least one condensable primary amine group where the reaction product has a ratio of the imide to amide infrared carbonyl absorption peak areas of about 1:0.0-0.6 and a water content of about 0.3 % or less by weight. The succinic acylating agent is prepared by thermal condensation of a highly reactive polyolefin with maleic anhydride or a reactive equivalent thereof. This fuel additive composition has a low chlorine content and is very effective in fuel compositions that include a normally liquid fuel in reducing deposits in the fuel intake system of an internal combustion engine.

摘要： This invention relates to a process for preparing an additive comprising the steps of: (1) reacting a polymer derived from of an olefin containing 2 to 8 carbon atoms with an acylating agent to form an acylated polymer; and (2) reacting the acylated polymer of step (1) in a medium substantially free of to free of sulphur with: (a) ammonia or an amine to form a succinimide product; or (b) water to form a hydrolysed product, wherein the mole ratio of the acylating agent to polymer in step (1) is from 0.3:1 to 1.6:1. The invention further relates to compositions containing the additive and its use.

摘要： This invention relates to a composition containing: (a) a hydrocarbon fluid; and (b) a hydrocarbyl- and hydroxy-substituted aromatic condensate comprising the reaction product of: (1) at least 75 mole percent based on the total amount of (b)(1) and (b)(2) of a hydrocarbyl- and hydroxy-substituted aromatic compound wherein the hydrocarbyl substituent is a linear substituent containing 8 to 36 carbon atoms; (2) 0.001 to 25 mole percent based on the total amount of (b)(1) and (b)(2) of a hydrocarbyl- and hydroxy-substituted aromatic compound wherein the hydrocarbyl substituent is a branched substituent containing 8 to 20 carbon atoms; and (3) an amount of an aldehyde, ketone, or reactive equivalent thereof effective to condense (1) and (2) to form the hydrocarbyl- and hydroxy-substituted aromatic condensate. The invention further relates to method of preparing the condensate and its use as an additive in a crude oil, a liquid fuel or an oil of lubricating viscosity.

The boron-containing overbased calixarene is useful in a lubricant additive composition, a lubricant composition, and a method to lubricate an internal combustion engine.
