    • An engine driven welding system (10) includes two power generators (14, 16), each having a rotor (68, 94) and a stator (64, 90). Each rotor is mounted on a respective drive shaft (70, 96), with one of the drive shafts being driven by the engine (12) and the other drive shaft being releasably coupled to the engine driven drive shaft. This provides a modular type construction of the welding system, in that the outboard power generator can be selected or changed as needed for a particular application. The coupled drive shafts are supported by two bearing assemblies (84, 108). Also disclosed as additional features for any welding system power supply is a removable plate releasably having one or more connectors attached thereto for facilitating installation of an electrical component for a welding system power supply; and also a power switch having a member that restricts rotational movement of the switch.

    • A self-contained welding power supply (10) capable of, upon termination of welding operation, automatically setting a control signal for auxiliary power is provided. The power supply (10) comprises an engine (20), a generator (30) driven by the engine (20), and an excitation system (40) that controls power output of the generator (30). The excitation system (40) includes an output controller (80) and a DC controller (74). The output controller (80) includes circuitry that generates a field voltage control signal to be sent to the DC controller (74) to regulate DC power going to field windings of the generator (30). Upon termination of the welding operation, the field voltage control signal is automatically set to a value appropriate for the auxiliary system operation.

The welding device can include one or more renewable energy kits that harvest renewable energy sources for performing a welding operation or a powering at least one of a device or component external to the welding device. The welding device includes renewable energy component that collects an input to convert to an electrical current that can be used as a replacement current, a supplemental current, or a complimentary current.
