    • The mechanism has a hand-operating toggle (1) fitted inside a casing (2) and spring-loaded in the off direction on which is articulated a lever (3, 4). During switch-on, a contact lever (5) pivoting about a spindle (2d) against the force of a spring (7) is supported on the lever. The contact lever (5) acts on a fixed contact (6) and can be clamped in the made position against the force of the spring (7). It is the purpose of the invention to simplify the supporting link between the lever (3, 4) and the contact lever (5) in order to obtain uniform release forces with only slight spreads within a production run of switches. To this end, between the hand-operating toggle (1) and the contact lever (5) is fitted a toggle lever consisting of a tension lever (3) and a bracket (4) which, in its stable position, is virtually tensioned and in which the form of the tension lever (3) causes its two articulated arms to assume a precisely defined top dead centre position. Thus during switch-on and in the on position, the toggle lever (3, 4) acts as a rigid lever. Only a substantially perpendicular load on its joint (3b/4a) applied via a release lever (9) towards dead centre causes the toggle lever (3, 4) to assume an unstable position under the effect of the contact lever's (5) return through the force of the spring (7). This releases the rigid connection between the hand-operating toggle (1) and the contact lever (5) so that the lever arm (5c) on the contact side can pivot into its breaking position. The mechanism of the invention is particularly suitable for fault-current protective switches and automatic cut-outs.

    • In what is known as a current-operated earth-leakage circuit breaker with overcurrent release, configured in a modular serial design, the leakage current module with its housing (1) is aligned laterally to circuit breakers and connected to them to form a compact modular unit. This involves establishing a connection between a summation current transformer of the leakage current module and terminals of the circuit breakers as well as coupling their switching and tripping mechanisms. The external electrical connection is effected at each leakage current module by means of terminals arranged within a terminal space (3.1) of the housing (1). To be able to allocate this leakage current module connection to either the upper or the lower connection level of the switch in accordance with the local conditions, the housing (1) of the leakage current module can be assembled with an interlocking fit between a multipart central body (2) and, situated on either side thereof, two side bodies (3, 4) extending over the full width of the housing. The two side bodies (3, 4) have different designs, the larger side body (3) comprising the terminal space (3.1). As needed, the two side bodies (3, 4) can be alternately joined to the central body (2) with its symmetrical housing contours (2.5) to form a finished housing (1) for all the components of the leakage current module. The leakage current module can thus be combined universally with circuit breakers to form current-operated earth-leakage circuit breakers with overcurrent relase, of varying rated current.

    • For a combination of two different or similar switching devices (1, 2) or other electrical series insertion devices, the housing (1.1, 2.1) can be subsequently centrically aligned. The devices (1, 2) are both electrically and mechanically interconnected and combined into a compact unit by means of connecting components (3, 5, 6) which can be inserted into recesses (1.5, 2.5) in adjacent housings (1.1, 2.1). To prevent the separation of such a combination into the original individual devices (1, 2) or their rearrangement into another combination which may not meet the regulations, each connector (3, 5, 6) can be permanently inserted into the housing (2.1) of one device (2). At the same time it is engaged reliably in the adjacent housing (1.1) so that, after assembly, it is impossible to separate the devices (1, 2) without destroying the connector (3, 5, 6). A part of the destroyed connector (3, 5, 6) remains captive at least in the housing (2.1) of one device (2). The combination is especially suitable for fitting one or more line protection switches (1) with a residual current protection module (2) to provide an FI/LS switch.
