    • An interface circuit is disclosed for operating a light source from an electronic fluorescent driver, which interface circuit is equipped with - input terminals (7a, 7b) for connection to lamp connection terminals of the electronic fluorescent lamp driver, - a first string (5a) interconnecting a first pair of input terminals (7a), - a second string (5b) interconnecting a second pair of input terminals (7b), - a third string (11, 9) interconnecting a first terminal (Tl) of the first string and a second terminal (T2) of the second string and comprising a rectifier (31), output terminals of said rectifier being coupled during operation to the light source. The interface circuit is further equipped with a first switching element (11) for controlling the conductive state of the third string and a fourth string coupled to the third string and comprising a sensor circuit (8), having an output terminal coupled to a control electrode of the first switching element, for sensing the amplitude of a high frequency AC voltage between the first and the second terminal and for rendering the first switching element conductive when the amplitude of the high frequency AC voltage reaches a predetermined value. When a light source is operated making use of the interface circuit, a proper emulation of a fluorescent lamp is obtained.

    • A LED light source comprises a first rectifier (DB1) having input terminals coupled to an AC voltage source and output terminals connected by a first series arrangement comprising N LED loads and further comprises circuitry(I1, I2, I3, CC) for making the LED loads one by one carry a current when the momentary value of the AC voltage increases and one by one stop carrying a current when the momentary value of the AC voltage decreases. The LED light source also comprises a second rectifier (DB2) having input terminals coupled to the AC voltage source via a reactive element and output terminals connected by a second series arrangement comprising M LED loads and further comprises circuitry (I4) for making the LED loads one by one carry a current when the momentary value of the AC voltage present at the input terminals of the second rectifier increases and one by one stop carrying a current when the momentary value of the AC voltage decreases.

    • The invention relates to a LED light source,suitable for use with a phase cut dimmer such as a TRIAC dimmer (III), comprising - a first input terminal (K1) and a second input terminal (K2)for connection to a supply voltage source supplying a low frequency AC supply voltage with frequency f, -a rectifier (I) coupled to the input terminals for rectifying the low frequency AC supply voltage, - a series arrangement comprising N LED loads (LL1, LL2, LL3), a first and second end of said series arrangement being coupled to a first output terminal and a second output terminal of the rectifier, - control circuitry (IX) for subsequently making the LED loads conduct a current, one by one, in dependency of the instantaneous value of the low frequency AC supply voltage when the instantaneous value increases and for subsequently making the LED loads stop conducting a current, one by one, in dependency of the instantaneous value of the low frequency AC supply voltage when the instantaneous value decreases, wherein the control circuitry comprises - N control strings comprising a controllable current regulator and coupled between the cathode of a LED load and the second output terminal of the rectifier, and - a global current control circuit (X) coupled to the controllable current regulators for controlling the instantaneous value of the current through the control strings, wherein the controllable current regulators each comprise a series arrangement of a transistor and at least one impedance,and wherein the global current control circuit is coupled to the control electrodes of the transistors comprised in the controllable current regulators and comprises circuitry for adjusting the voltage present at the control electrodes of the transistors comprised in the control strings, in dependency of the adjusted phase angle of the phase cut dimmer, and - a series arrangement of a switch (S) and a capacitor (C1)coupled between the output terminals of the rectifier and control circuitry (VIII) for rendering the switch conductive in case the instantaneous value of the low frequency AC supply voltage drops below a reference value.
