摘要： An apparatus, system and method are provided for adaptive flow control of layered streaming video over wireless local area networks (WLANs). In one aspect prioritized and adaptive transmission mechanisms are provided based on buffer fullness and discarding visually less important packets so that future visually more important packets can reach the decoder in time. In another aspect, aggregated control is provided for all video applications as well as separate control for each video application.

Such compliance insures that video from a source which incorporates the present invention can be successfully decoded and rendered by any digital video receiver that conforms to the corresponding standard, and that the transmitting equipment can be used with any equipment that adheres to the networking protocol (300).

The data services have been allocated airt ime quotas in order to comply with their QoS requirements. These airtime quotas are scaled by a factor that is the ratio between, on the one hand, the time available per service interval for accommodating data of these services and, on the other hand, the total of the airtime quotas. This allows the services to use more airtime in case not the entire service interval has been allocated.

摘要： Techniques for dynamically switching between synchronous and asynchronous operation modes in body area networks (BANs). One embodiment includes a method (400) for transitioning from an asynchronous mode to a synchronous mode in a medium access control (MAC) of a BAN.
