摘要： The present invention relates to prebiotic compositions and formulations comprising an α-hydroxy acid and salts thereof, such as lactic, glycolic, citric, tartaric or malic acid and a prebiotic agent, such as inulin, fructo-oligosaccharide (FOS), lactulose, galacto-oligosaccharide (GOS), raffinose, stachyose, isomalto-oligosaccharide, and xylo-oligosaccharide. Prebiotic compositions of the present invention provide a surprisingly synergist prebiotic effect and may be administered in several forms to a user, such as by application to a premoistened wiping substrate or dry bath tissue.

摘要： The invention relates to creped prebiotic tissue products. The tissue products comprise prebiotics in sufficiently high amounts to have a prebiotic effect in use, without negatively affecting tissue product properties, such as tensile strength, stiffness or softness. Thus, in certain embodiments the present invention provides soft, durable creped prebiotic tissue products that are able to improve the growth of healthy bacteria such as Bifidobacterium spp. or Lactobacillus spp . without promoting growth of enteropathogenic bacteria. The tissue products provide these benefits yet have a GMT greater than about 500, a Stiffness Index less than about 20 and a TS7 value less than about 10.

摘要： Pulp fibers can be treated-'with water insoluble chemical additives resulting in a minimal amount of unretained water insoluble chemical additives present after exposing the treated pulp fibers to process water, liquids, or solutions used in products. One embodiment of the present invention is a method for preparing chemically treated pulp fiber. A fiber slurry is created comprising process water and pulp fibers. The fiber slurry is transported to a web-forming apparatus of a pulp sheet machine thereby forming a wet fibrous web. The wet fibrous web is dried to a predetermined consistency thereby forming a dried fibrous web. The dried fibrous web is treated with a water insoluble chemical additive thereby forming a chemically treated dried fibrous web containing chemically treated pulp fibers. The chemically treated pulp fibers have an improved level of chemical retention of the water insoluble chemical additive and retain from between about 25 to about 100 percent of the applied amount of the water insoluble chemical additive when the chemically treated pulp fibers are exposed to a liquid, such as water. The chemically treated pulp fibers are used to form a fibrous non-woven material.

摘要： The fluid intake rate of a tissue product having at least one hydrophobic exterior layer can be increased significantly by the addition of apertures through the hydrophobic exterior layer to the tissue product's hydrophilic interior layer. The apertures allow for fluid to be absorbed by the hydrophilic interior layer, while leaving the hydrophobic exterior layer dry to the touch. The size, number and spacing of the apertures can be controlled to manage the absorbent properties of the tissue product. In one embodiment, a three-ply tissue product has two exterior hydrophobic plies each having a plurality of apertures extending from the surface of both exterior plies through the plies to a hydrophilic interior ply.
