摘要： An oxidizing anti-microbial treatment and products containing such treatment are described. The treatment involves, in part, preparing a substrate to accept an attachment of charged moieties, and a number of stabilized peroxide compounds on at least part of a surface of said substrate. When microbes, such as bacteria, having a net charge opposite to that of the charged moieties come in close proximity to the treated substrate surface, peroxide molecules from the substrate are activated and released to kill the microbes.

摘要： A laminate is generally provided having alcohol repellency properties. In one particular embodiment, the laminate includes a meltblown web bonded to a spunbond web (e.g., a SM laminate, a SMS laminate, a SMMS laminate, etc.). A fluorinated polymeric coating is attached to the surface of the spunbond web (e.g., grafted). The fluorinated polymeric coating comprises a perfluoroalkyl(alkyl) (meth)acrylate monomer polymerized on the surface of the spunbond web via exposure to a low frequency energy source. Tthe perfluoroalkyl(alkyl) (meth)acrylate monomer has a perfluoroalkyl side groups comprising -(CF2)Z-F, where z is an integer from 1 to 6. The laminate has an alcohol repellency of greater than 80%.

摘要： A disinfectant wet wipe that contains a germicidal solution and a nonwoven web material is provided. The germicidal solution includes a peracid and peroxide, which can act synergistically together to be efficacious against pathogens when exposed thereto. To stabilize the solution over a period of time (e.g., during storage), a variety of aspects of the wipe are selectively controlled in accordance with the present invention. For example, the nonwoven web material used in the wipe is formed from a synthetic polymer and is relatively hydrophobic in nature. Without intending to be limited by theory, it is believed that such materials possess a lower reduction potential for peroxides/peracids than cellulosic-based materials. In this manner, significant degradation of the peroxide or peracid contained in the germicidal solution is limited. To improve the wettability of the nonwoven web material, one or more surfactants are also employed in the germicidal solution. Besides improving wettability, the present inventors have surprisingly discovered that certain surfactants may also improve the stability of the solution.

摘要： A material substrate having at least part of a surface treated with an antimicrobial composition is described. The antimicrobial composition exhibits at least a 3 log 10 CFU reduction within a period of about 30 minutes after contact with various species of a broad spectrum of microorganisms. The substrate can be a nonwoven material that has good fluid barrier properties, which can be used in protective garments and sheets. Methods for manufacturing and imparting the antimicrobial treatment to the substrate are also provided.

摘要： The present disclosure is generally directed to hydrogel-fibrous web composites that can be used in a variety of applications. For instance, the hydrogel-fibrous web composite can be used in the same applications as the base fibrous web, without the addition of the hydrogel, when it is desired to increase the moisture or water absorbency of the web. The hydrogel polymer is integral to the fibers of the web. Thus, the hydrogel allows the web to absorb water or moisture (including water vapor) to a much greater extend than the web alone. The present disclosure is also generally directed to methods of integrating a hydrogel polymer into a fibrous web.
