摘要： The invention relates to the induction of the neuronal fate in neural stem cells or neural progenitor cells. The inventors have found that a neuronal fate in a neural stem cell or neural progenitor cell can be induced by expressing Nurr1 above basal levels within the cell. Nurr 1 is a transcription factor of the thyroid hormone/retinoic acid nuclear receptor superfamily. It is shown herein that the expression of Nurr 1 above basal levels in neural stem cells or neural progenitor cells increases the proportion of the cells which differentiate toward a neural fate. It has been found that in particular, dopaminergic neural stem cells or progenitor cells by a process including expression of Nurr 1 above basal levels in the cells and contact of the cells with one or more factors supplied by or derived from Type I astrocytes of the ventral mesencephalon.

摘要： Substantially homogenous cells populations which co-express CD49c, CD90 and telomerase are made. In one embodiment, humans suffering from a degenerative, traumatic, acute injury, cardiac or neurological condition are treated with the substantially homogenous cells populations which co-express CD49c, CD90 and telomerase. In another embodiment, committed progenitor cells are made are made by selecting from a cultured source of a cell populations which co-express CD49c and CD90 and modifying the cell population. The committed progenitor cells can be employed to treat a human suffering from a degenerative, traumatic, acute injury, cardiac or neurological condition and to formulate pharmaceutical compositions. In a further embodiment, a substantially homogenous populaton of cells which co-express CD49c, CD90 and at least one cardiac-related transcription factor is made and can be used to treat a human suffering from a cardiac condition.

摘要： Methods for promoting dopaminergic neuronal development and producing neural cells having a dopaminergic phenotype. Dopaminergic neural cells may be used for treating individuals having a neurodegenerative disease such as Parkinson's disease. Dopaminergic cells may be implanted into the brain of the individual, and/or dopaminergic neural development may be induced or enhanced in the brain of the individual. Methods comprise expressing a nuclear receptor of the NG4A subfamily, e.g. Nurr1, above basal levels within the cell and treating the cell with a Wnt ligand, thereby producing or enhancing proliferation, self-renewal, survival and/or dopaminergic induction, differentiation, survival or acquisition of a neuronal dopaminergic phenotype. The cell may be co-cultured with astrocytes or glial cells and may be contacted with an FGF growth factor.

Protein agents, including antibodies, or nucleic acid agents, including DNA, are used to detect expression levels of one or more specific biomarkers in a panel, including SPINK4, L1TDI, LY6G6D, APOBEC1, LOC729669, COL10A, SLC35D_1024, MMP7, MMP12, NMU and WNT10A. The expression level of one or more biomarkers in a subject sample is compared to the expression level(s) relative in a reference sample comprising non-cancerous cells. A higher level of expression in the subject sample relative to the non-cancerous cells indicates that the sample has colorectal cancer cells.

The method includes monitoring all outgoing communications on a server in order to identify a VoIP telephony signal. Upon detection of a VoIP telephony signal indicating that a VoIP call setup is in progress, the method determines whether a caller identifier associated with the VoIP telephony signal identifies an associated caller as a candidate for a targeted advertisement delivery. If the caller is a candidate for a targeted advertisement delivery, identifying and retrieving a targeted advertisement for presentation to the caller during the call setup.
