    • A jet loom has a weft yarn insertion brake with at least a braking element movable across the path of the weft yarn between a rest position at one side of the weft yarn and a braking position. An electric driving motor linked with the braking element can be actuated during each insertion process and is connected to an electronic control device. As driving motor, a fast response step or D.C. motor is used that can be switched in each direction of displacement and whose stroke can be individually adjusted in each set position of the braking element during an insertion process. The control device has a programming part with a programm that can be modified between individual insertion processes in order to adapt the moment in time, the stroke and the direction of the driving motor control. The force exerted by the driving motor on the braking element is higher than the highest possible reaction force of the deflected weft yarn.
