    • A method to optimize tag based protocol parsing adapted to execute functions according to tags of a tag based protocol stream is disclosed. A reference tag table, associated to the document type definition of the tag based protocol stream, comprises tags and corresponding attribute and function names. When the optimized tag based protocol parser gets a tag from the tag based protocol stream, it determines whether or not the tag is present in the reference tag table. If the tag is not found in this table, normal parsing continues. Else, if the tag is found in this table and if there is at least one associated the attribute names from the reference tag table and from the tag based protocol stream. If the attribute names match, the parser gets the attribute values from the tag based protocol stream before getting the name of the function associated to the tag and attribute names combination. Then, the parser executes the function.

    • A method is disclosed to create files in a file system hierarchy in a way which facilitates their retrieval. The method of the preferred embodiment allows to manage a file by creating , retrieving, deleting, copying and moving the file in a file hierarchy as displayed through the graphical user interface provided with the operating system. The file is saved in one folder under a file name and a possibility is given to the user to save the file under the same file name or different file names in different folders which are all in relation with the context of the file creation. The user will multiply his chances to retrieve the file in different folders when he desires access it later on. The principle is to create a real file in a first designated folder and to create shortcut files in the other folders. The list of shortcut files is saved as a hidden file in the same directory as the real file. The advantage of the invention is to take benefit of the shortcut function available in most operating systems.

    • A system for localizing an object among a set of objects, each equipped with a passive RFID tag, is disclosed. According to the invention, the RFID reader comprises a plurality of antennas that can be activated sequentially. After having selected an antenna, the RFID reader powers the selected antenna and interrogates the RFID tags localized in the reading range of the selected antenna. If the RFID tag having the searched identifier is not detected within the reading range of the selected antenna, the powering of the selected antenna is stopped, the selected antenna is deselected, a different antenna is selected, and the process is repeated with the new selected antenna. If the RFID tag having the searched identifier is detected within the reading range of the selected antenna, the powering of the selected antenna is maintained for a predetermined delay and visual means indicating the position of the RFID tag having the searched identifier are activated. In a first embodiment, the visual indication means consist of LEDs embedded within the passive RFID tag. Other visual indication means can be associated to the RFID reader's antennas.
