    • An apparatus and method are disclosed for enhancing connection mobility control for small cell networks that may include receiving location information of a wireless transmit/receive unit WTRU. In some embodiments, the method may include determining the location information of the WTRU. The method may include determining a target cell area TCA for the WTRU based on the location information of the WTRU. The TCA comprises one or more target cells. The method may further include transmitting at least one target cell to the WTRU. A method on a WTRU may include receiving a target cell area TCA from a base station. The TCA may include one or more target cells. The method may include responding to a radio link failure (RLF) or handover failure by selecting a target cell from the TCA, and transmitting a connection reestablishment request to the selected target cell. ADDITIONAL DETAILS: The serving BTS calculates a candidate target cell list (TCA, essentially the NCL or a subset thereof) based on a multitude of criteria such as street topology, history of past HO-failures or RLF or UE's speed, location, predicted trajectory or explicit trajectory communicated by the UE to the BTS and transmits it (reference sign 740) to the BTS's of the TCA, together with the UE's context, through the X2 interface (thus, preparing them for HO). The BTS's are prioritized according to the probability of HO occurrence. On HO failure (e. g., T304 timeout), the UE sends a second RACH to the next target cell candidate, which may be prepared or unprepared. If an unprepared cell receives a RACH from the UE, it sends a reset handover to the served cell (paragraph 149).
