    • Disclosed are a search-based word segmentation method and device for a language without a word boundarytag. The method includes the steps of: a. providing at least one search engine witha segment of a text including at least one segment; b. searching for the segment through the at least one search engine, and returning search results; and c. selecting a word segmentation approach for the segment in accordance with at least part of the returned search results. The method and device address the problems of word segmentation for a language without a word boundary tag, and thus combat the limitations of the prior art in terms of flexibility, dependence upon coverage of dictionaries, available training data corpuses, processing of a new word, etc.

    • In a method of making a generating device (100), a plurality of spaced apart elongated seed members (114) are deposited onto a surface of a flexible non-conductive substrate (110). An elongated conductive layer (118) is applied to a top surface and a first side of each seed member (114), thereby leaving an exposed second side opposite the first side. A plurality of elongated piezoelectric nanostructures (122) is grown laterally from the second side of each seed member (114). A second conductive material (126) is deposited onto the substrate (110) adjacent each elongated first conductive layer (118) so as to be coupled the distal end of each of the plurality of elongated piezoelectric nanostructures (122). The second conductive material (126) is selected so as to form a Schottky barrier between the second conductive material (126) and the distal end of each of the plurality of elongated piezoelectric nanostructures (122) and so as to form an electrical contact with the first conductive layer (118).

    • A system and method for real-time network communications provides a session identifier (Session ID) as a public key for group communication (20, 22) between clients, and provides a channel identifier (Channel ID) representing a private key for each of a plurality of clients (12). The channel identifier includes client-specific attributes, which function to indicate grouping criteria for the group communication. A dynamic communication link is created over a network between a client (12) and a service (14) based upon the public and private key combination such that group communication is enabled based upon the attributes of the private key and the public key. Communications are translated using a translation service (16) which employs the attributes associated with the private key and the public key combination to provide response information in a designated language to enable multi- lingual real-time communications.
