    • The present invention is a lock system particularly suited to the requirements of restricting access to an aircraft cockpit, although the invention may equally be applied to a range of other applications. Disclosed is a lock system including a door mounted locking bolt that may be actuated by a handle on the cockpit side of the door and by a key on the cabin side of the door. The key actuator may be disabled from the cockpit side of the door. The bolt is configured to engage a doorframe mounted bolt-receiver the bolt and the bolt-receiver thereby interlocking in a way that holds the bolt in the bolt-receiver in the advent of attempted forced entry to the cockpit, such as by a terrorist. The doorplane elements are further configured so as to automatically release the bolt and allow the door to open freely in the case of a sudden differential is cockpit and cabin air pressure.
