    • [Problem] An object is to improve the visibility of a linear object such as a road in display of a three-dimensional map by a bird's eye view. [Solution to Problem] In three-dimensional map data, polygon data representing three-dimensional shapes are stored for features such as buildings, and line data are stored for linear objects such as roads and railways. A process of displaying a three-dimensional map by a bird's eye view expands the width of line data to generate polygon data with respect to a linear object and displays a polygon PP and a line LL in an overlapping manner over the entire linear object. This causes the polygon PP to display the linear object with enhancing the sense of perspective in a close area to a viewpoint, while causing the line LL to display the linear object with keeping the minimum width, thus improving the visibility of the entire linear object.

The boundary between the transparent portion and the opaque portion is expressed by a curved line that is convex upward to express the horizon of the curved line. The background layer is superimposed not behind the projection but on the front surface of the projection. This causes an upper edge portion of the projection including the upper edge drawn by a straight line to be covered and hidden and expresses the boundary by the curved line. This provides a pseudo-image expressing the horizon by the curved line.
