摘要： A digital information stream communication (DISC) system within a first conditional access system (CAS) is disclosed. The DISC system communicates information from a digital information stream (DIS) having DIS attributes for accessibility using the first CAS or associated with a digital media (DM) content in the DIS. The DISC system includes a monitoring module configured to receive the DIS and identify one or more of the DIS attributes for accessibility using the first CAS. The DISC system also includes a processing module configured to identify one or more of the DIS attributes associated with the DM content and analyze the DIS attributes. It does this to determine whether to send DIS data from the DIS to a second CAS based upon the DIS data being included in the DIS attributes. The DISC system also includes a processor configured to operate the monitoring module and the processing module.

摘要： A system (10), method (90) and apparatus (14) are provided for provisioning a multicast stream, such as an IP multicast stream, in a network. The system includes a first tier (12), such as a national backbone, with a first Multicast Address Discovery (MCAD) directory (34), and at least one second tier having a headend, such as a regional headend (14), with a second MCAD directory (36, 38). The system (10) includes a tiered MCAD directory network that allows the assignment of multicast addresses to multicast streams received from an upper tier MCAD directory. The tiered MCAD directory structure allows for requesting and storing stream descriptors and delivering stream descriptors on-demand to MCAD-enabled devices throughout the system. The system (10) also allows for stream provisioning maintenance and validation at lower tier headends via MCAD-enabled device queries or re-queries of upper tier MCAD directories.

摘要： In a video on demand (VOD) system, methods and apparatus are provided for seamlessly switching back and forth between two pre-encrypted files having changing encryption keys. Such switching back and forth may be required when a VOD server stores both a "normal" copy of a movie and a "special" copy such as a "trick-play" version for, e.g., fast forward and rewind effects. Instead of using keys with changing parities in both streams, the special stream is encrypted with keys using the same parity (even or odd), while the normal stream is encrypted with one dynamic key (odd or even) and one fixed key (even or odd). Other special streams, such as scene branch streams and alternate angle streams can also be accommodated.

摘要： The present invention relates to methods and apparatus for simultaneously decrypting multiple services received on separate encrypted multiplexed transport streams. A plurality of encrypted multiplexed transport streams may be received at a television terminal. Each transport stream may have at least one service. The plurality of multiplexed transport streams may be received by, for example, multiple tuning devices and/or provided from a storage device, such as a Personal Versatile Recorder (PVR). A plurality of desired services are selected from a subset of the transport streams. The desired services are multiplexed into a desired service multiplex and decrypted by a single decryption engine to provide a desired decrypted multiplex. The desired decrypted multiplex is then demultiplexed so that the desired services can be decoded and provided to a user.

摘要： In accordance with a method for communicating a control word (CW) from a client such as an encryptor to a server such as the entitlement control message generator (ECMG) of a conditional access system (CAS), communication is established between the client and server over a secure connection. A control word to be encrypted is received by the client and encrypted using a first and second key. The first key is a global secret key (GSK) that is known to the client and the server without being communicated over the secure connection. The second key is a control word encryption key (CWEK) that is derived from a locally generated client nonce (CN) and a server nonce (SN) obtained from the server over the secure connection. The encrypted control word (ECW) is sent to the server over the secure connection.

When a portion (405) of a digital image displayed in the GUI (400) is selected for enlargement, an enlarged version of the selected portion (520) is displayed adjacent to the remaining portion of the original image (505, 510, 515) that was not selected for enlargement. The digital image may include a plurality of image portions (e.g., individual display windows) selectable for enlargement, such as those found in a CATV electronic programming guide (EPG). In one embodiment, hidden supplemental data corresponding to the selected portion is only revealed in the enlarged version of the selected portion (720), so that it can be more easily viewed. In another embodiment, an enlargement feature application program is downloaded to a local device (1110) that controls the GUI (400), in response to a subscriber accepting an offer presented by a service provider (1105).

摘要： An exemplary content delivery system for delivering pre-encrypted content to a first subscriber terminal includes an off line encryption system configured to generate the pre-encrypted content using a control word, a caching system configured to store the pre-encrypted content and transmit the pre-encrypted content to the first subscriber terminal, a first conditional access system configured to allow a number of subscriber terminals to decrypt the pre-encrypted content, a second conditional access system configured to allow the first subscriber terminal to decrypt the pre-encrypted content, and a first encryption renewal system associated with the first conditional access system. The first encryption renewal system is configured to authorize the second conditional access system to allow the first subscriber terminal to decrypt the pre-encrypted content. An exemplary method for delivering pre-encrypted content to a first subscriber terminal includes generating the pre-encrypted content using a control word, transmitting the preencrypted content to the first subscriber terminal, and using an encryption renewal system associated with a first conditional access system to authorize a second conditional access system to allow the first subscriber terminal to decrypt the pre-encrypted content.
