摘要： There is provided an electrical assembly comprising: a converter (20) including a DC side and an AC side, the DC side configured for connection to a DC network (36), the AC side configured for connection to an AC network (40), the converter (20) including at least one switching element (46); a circuit interruption device (50) operably connected to the AC side of the converter (20); a DC voltage modification device operably connected to the DC side of the converter (20), the DC voltage modification device including a DC chopper; and a controller (56) configured to selectively control the or each switching element (46), the circuit interruption device (50) and the DC voltage modification device, wherein the controller (56) is configured to be responsive to a converter internal fault (22) by carrying out a fault operating mode in which the controller (56) controls: the or each switching element (46) to block the converter (20); the circuit interruption device (50) to electrically isolate the converter (20) from the AC network (40); and the DC voltage modification device to reduce or minimise a DC voltage presented by the DC network (36) to the DC side of the converter (20).

摘要： The present invention provides methods (200) and devices for controlling the operation of HVDC switchgear. In the event of a particular type of fault (202), such as a single-phase-to-ground fault, the phase which experiences a zero crossing of current is identified, and an open command sent to the breaker associated with that phase (202). By opening one of the multiple AC breakers which has a zero crossing of current, the current flowing in the other phases will also have zero crossings (204). Open commands can thus be sent to the other AC breakers after a time delay, and the current flowing in all AC phases successfully stopped (200).
