摘要： A package including a fitment (20, 120) for dispensing a liquid from a flexible bag (10) is disclosed. The fitment (20, 120) is secured to the bag (10) and includes a compressible bulb (50, 166) and a piercing member (30, 126) that are coupled together. The fitment (20, 120) is configured such that when the bulb (50, 166) is first actuated, e.g., pressed, it causes the piercing member (30, 126) to pierce through the wall of the bag (10) so that the contents of the bag (10) can be dispensed through an outlet port (42, 142) of the fitment. In one embodiment of the fitment (20, 120) a portion of piercing member (30) is permanently located within bag (10) after first use and a valve (26) is provided to open and close outlet port (42) thereafter. In another embodiment piercing member (126) is extended into and out of bag (10) to dispense the contents of bag (10) through outlet port (142), without necessitating use of a separate valve to open and close that port.

The front panel is secured to the gusseted side panels along a pair of side seal lines. The back panel is secured to the gusseted side panels along a pair of side seal lines. Each of the seal lines includes a pair of end portions and an intermediate portion. The intermediate portion, e.g., a concave recessed portion, of each side seal line is located closer to the central longitudinal axis than the end portions of the side seal lines to provide a package which is somewhat necked-down at its middle, to facilitate grasping of the package by users.

摘要： Disclosed are recyclable flexible package and a method of recycling such packages. The flexible package includes a hollow body defining an interior chamber for holding an oxygen sensitive product. The body is formed of a laminated film formed of two layers of a single polymer material, e.g., polyethylene, and at least one interposed barrier layer, e.g., polyvinyl alcohol, that is resistant to the passage of oxygen therethrough and which is water-soluble. The single polymer constitutes at least 95% by weight of the laminated film, whereupon the package is suitable for recycling without requiring separation of the materials thereof by shredding the laminated film and subjecting those pieces to an aqueous wash to dissolve the barrier layer.

摘要： A package 10 including a fitment 20 for dispensing a liquid from a flexible bag is disclosed. The fitment is secured to the bag and includes a compressible bulb 28 and a piercing member 30 that are coupled together. The fitment is configured so that the piercing member pierces through a wall 14 of the bag to dispense the bag's contents through an outlet port 40 of the fitment. A separate valve 26 opens and closes the outlet port. The fitment is connected to a filling gland 202 of the bag which is in communication with the interior of the bag. A frangible seal 216 forming part of the fitment is pierced by the piercing member to dispense the liquid from the bag.

摘要： A one-way valve (20) and a flexible package (10) including the valve are disclosed. The valve basically comprises a base member (22), a flexible septum (24) and a stake (36). The base member is mounted on a wall (12) of the package and includes a valve seat (32) and at least one inlet port (34). The septum is formed of a resilient material and is connected to the base member by the stake, with a first portion of the septum contiguous with the stake fixed in position with respect to the base member and a second portion of the septum engaging the valve seat and covering and sealing the at least one inlet port. The septum is arranged to flex off of the valve seat to unseal the at least one inlet port when the pressure of gas at the at least one inlet port reaches a threshold.
