摘要： The present invention relates to a feeder element (10) for use in metal casting. The feeder element (10) (which serves the function of a breaker core) has a first end (16) for mounting on a mould plate (24), an opposite second end (18) for receiving a feeder sleeve (20) and a bore (14) between the first and second ends (16, 18) defined by a sidewall (12). The feeder element (10) is compressible in use whereby to reduce the distance between said first and second ends (16, 18). 摘要： The present invention discloses a feeder element for use in metal casting, said feeder element comprising: (i) a first end for mounting on a mould pattern; (ii) an opposite second end for receiving a feeder sleeve,- and (iii) a bore between the first and second ends defined by a stepped sidewall; said feeder element being compressible in use whereby to reduce the distance between the first and second ends, wherein the stepped sidewall has a first sidewall region defining the second end of the element and a mounting surface (54) for a feeder sleeve in use, said first sidewall region being inclined to the bore axis by less than 90° and a second sidewall region contiguous with the first sidewall region, said second sidewall region being parallel to or inclined to the bore axis at a different angle to the first sidewall region whereby to define a step in the sidewall. 摘要： In one aspect, the invention relates to a method of producing a porous body of refractory material having a predetermined configuration of pores, comprising : - (a) providing a plurality of porous body elements, each element being formed from a plastic refractory material and having a plurality of pores formed therein ; (b) assembling together the porous body elements to form a desired shape of porous body having the desired configuration of pores ; and (c) heating the assembled porous body elements such that they become fused together and lose their plasticity. In another aspect, the invention provides a porous body of refractory material having a predetermined configuration of pores (62) comprising a plurality of refractory body elements (60, 70) which are arranged in a stack and joined together to produce the predetermined configuration of pores (62). At least one of the body elements (70) is non-planar and preferably corrugated.

摘要： A rotary device and methods for treating molten metal, a tubular sleeve for said rotary device and the use of said rotary device in the treatment of molten metal. The rotary device comprises: a tubular sleeve comprising a rotor head at one end, the rotor head comprising a gas outlet for dispersing gas into molten metal; and a hollow shaft extending inside the tubular sleeve such that at least a portion of the hollow shaft is enclosed by the tubular sleeve, wherein the hollow shaft is fluidly connected to the gas outlet of the rotor head, the tubular sleeve is formed from a refractory material that is resistant to corrosion and thermal shock, and the hollow shaft is formed from a material comprising graphite. A first method comprises: applying a layer of synthetic slag material onto an exposed surface of the molten metal; and stirring the molten metal using a rotary device comprising a rotor head, such that the molten metal flows past the layer of synthetic slag material. A second method comprises: applying a metal treatment agent to molten metal; stirring the molten metal using a rotary device comprising a rotor head; and discharging gas into the molten metal through the rotor head.

摘要： The invention relates to apparatus and a method for use in the removal of items from a package so as to allow the items, which in one embodiment are empty containers, to be moved onwardly to a location at which the containers are filled. The items are provided as a group enclosed within sheet material to form a package. The apparatus includes a blade provided with a series of teeth formed therein and the blade is moved onto the sheet material at one side of the package such that the teeth of the blade puncture the same and then as the blade is moved further the cut line is formed. The blade can be moved through the package to perform the cutting action on the opposing wall of the package. Sheet material removal means and movement means for moving the freed items onwardly are also provided, with the movement means allowing the leading row of the group of containers to be separated and moved from the remainder of the group of containers in a particularly efficient manner. The invention provides an automated or semi-automated apparatus to be provided.
