摘要： A mechanism and method is provided for controllably loading multiple food loaves into the slicing station of a continuous slicing machine. The parallel loaves that are engaged by a common loaf feed drive or side-by-side, independent loaf feed drives are engaged by the loaf feed drive or drives simultaneously such that the interface or seam between a preceding loaf and a trailing loaf in different loaf feed paths are located substantially at the same location during slicing of two side-by-side loaf streams. A clamp device is provided that clamps multiple food loaves when loaded to move along the parallel food loaf paths together, wherein the clamp device can be released once the multiple food loaves are simultaneously engaged by the loaf feed drive.

The endless belt conveying surface is supported by the frame. The carrier is arranged beneath the top surface of the endless belt conveying surface. The plurality of pins protrude upward from the carrier, each of the pins having a sharp top end. The motive mechanism is configured for raising the carrier to elevate the top ends of the pins above the top surface of the endless belt conveying surface to receive and impale a first slice of a stack. The pins are then retracted beneath the conveying surface.

The interleaver includes a supply of web material, a drawing station, and a feed station. A tensioning station is disposed between the supply of web material and the drawing station to maintain the tension of the web material at a pre-determined tension. A web accumulation station is between the drawing station and the feed station to provide a slackened length of web material within an acceptable range of slack between the drawing station and the feed station. The supply of web material is disposed on a spool which rotates about a cylindrical shaft. The cylindrical shaft has a braking mechanism which protrudes from the shaft to generate a frictional force against the spool.

摘要： An improved orifice plate assembly for a loaf slicing machine, the orifice plate assembly (Fig. 3) located adjacent to a moving slicing blade includes a frame (1012) defining an opening (1013) and a first orifice-defining member (1022) and a second orifice-defining member (1023) slidably mounted together on the frame. An adjustment mechanism is operatively connected to the frame and to each of the first and second orifice-defining member, the adjustment mechanism changes the orifice dimension without substantially changing a centerline location of the orifice. The mechanism includes a stud (1024) fixed to the first orifice-defining member, and two links (1060, 1062) pivotally mounted to the frame and engaged to two rods fixed to the second orifice-defining member. Movement of the stud inwardly pivots the links to draw the second orifice-defining member toward the first orifice-defining member.
