    • The present disclosure is directed towards methods and systems for capturing artifact-free biometric images of an eye. The eye may be in motion and in the presence of partially-reflective eyewear. The method may include acquiring, by a first sensor, a first image of an eye while the eye is illuminated by a first illuminator. The first image may include a region of interest. The first sensor may be disposed at a fixed displacement from the first illuminator and a second sensor. The second sensor may acquire, within a predetermined period of time from the acquisition of the first image, a second image of the eye. The second image may include the region of interest. An image processor may determine if at least one of the first and second images include artifacts arising from one or both of the first illuminator and eyewear, within the region of interest.

    • The present disclosure is directed towards methods and systems for ensuring integrity of biometric data for one or more transactions. A mobile biometric device may acquire biometric information of an individual. A ranging module of a transaction device may determine that a distance between the mobile biometric device and a physical location of a first transaction with the individual is within a predefined value. The transaction device may link, responsive to the determination, the acquired biometric information to the first transaction if the biometric information is acquired within a specific time limit from the distance determination. The transaction device may link the acquired biometric information to a universal biometric record of the individual. A biometric integrity engine may compare information from the first transaction and a second transaction for inconsistency or fraud.

    • A method of providing active illumination during biometry that utilizes pulsed lighting synchronized to frame acquisition. Two distinct illumination modalities are provided: the first maximizes the quality of images captured by the imaging system, and the second minimizes the overall illumination perceived by the user in combination with the first. The two modalities are provided substantially simultaneously. The first modality always includes a set of pulses synchronized with frame acquisition. The second modality may be either a second set of pulses not synchronized with frame acquisition or constant background illumination. The two modalities may be generated by two separate sources of illumination or by the same single illumination source. Adding the second modality to the first reduces user discomfort and the chances of an epileptic response as compared to using the first modality alone. The two modalities may have different wavelengths, pulse durations, or intensities.

    • A method for confirming the identity of an individual while shielding that individual's personal data. At least one image of the iris of an individual is captured and stored in a database. A unique identification code is assigned to the iris image without reference to the first individual's personal information. A subsequent iris image is compared with the contents of the database. If a match between the subsequent iris image is found with a stored iris image, the system transmits the identification code corresponding to the matched iris image. Preferably, the system replaces enrollment and live iris images with iris templates and bases comparisons on these templates, rather than storing/comparing actual images. The system is adapted to assist in locating missing persons and in verifying transactions. If an individual is missing and a live iris template is matched to that person's stored template, the system automatically contacts another individual.
