摘要： Razor blades for use in wet shave razors are produced from a precipitation hardenable ferrous composition having an austenitic structure and being supersaturated in certain elements, by a cold rolling process which converts most of the austenite to martensite, followed by a heat treatment process which causes the precipitation of strengthening particles to produce a corrosion resistant material having a hardness in excess of 600HV.

摘要： An elongated flat strip of martensitic satinless steel material for use in manufacturing razor blades is provided with an elongated weakened portion. The weakened portion is provided after hardening, sharpening and cutting edge coating processes are performed. The weakened portion is provided by the application of laser energy that forms a groove along a side of the razor blade and converts previously tempered martensite to untempered martensite at the weakened portion. The razor blade is attached to a support and removed at the weakened portion. The weakened portion can be provided before or after the razor blade is attached to the support.

摘要： An inter-blade guard of a suitably ductile material for a razor cartridge is provided with an elongated weakened region. The weakened region is provided after the inter-blade guard is attached to a surface of a razor blade. The weakened region is provided by the application of laser energy that forms a groove along a side of the inter-blade guard. The root region of the groove undergoes intergranular carbide precipitation to locally embrittle the intergranular boundary regions in the groove root region of the otherwise ductile material.
