    • A lighting device is mounted onto a support structure, e.g., helmet. The lighting device includes a light body having forward facing light sources including a visible white light source, visible colored light source, an infrared light source and a side facing IFF light source. The light body includes switches for activating the visible light sources and a three-position switch for activating the IR and light sources. The light body mounts onto a mount assembly and includes a connector arrangement for slidably connecting to a platform of the mount assembly. A base member of the mount assembly includes a clamp that connects to a support structure. The light body and platform member may be swivelly moved relative to the base member by forcing the light body and platform member away from the base member and rotating the same. Also disclosed is boost circuitry, battery chemistry detection and control modes.

    • A lighting system (10) is provided that includes at least one lighting device (14A,14B,14C), at least one connector (12), and a plurality of external power sources (20,22,24,26,27). The at least one lighting device (14A,14B,14C) includes at least one lighting source (18A,18B,18C), and an internal power source (16) applying a first electrical current to illuminate the at least one lighting source (18A,18B,18C), wherein the internal power source (16) supplies the first electrical current. The at least one connector (12) electrically connects to the at least one lighting device (14A,14B,14C). The plurality of external power sources (20,22,24,26,27) include at least first and second external power sources that are adapted to be electrically connected to the at least one lighting device (14A,14B,14C) by the at least one connector (12). The first external power source (20,22,24,26,27) supplies a second electrical current to the at least one lighting device (14A,14B,14C) to illuminate the at least one lighting source (18A,18B,18C) and the second external power source (20,22,24,26,27) supplies a third electrical current to illuminate the at least one lighting source (18A,18B,18C), such that the internal power source (16) and one of the plurality of external power sources (20,22,24,26,27) each supply electrical current to illuminate the at least one lighting source (18A,18B,18C) at different times.
