摘要： A method for presentation of a recognition of a handwritten pattern comprises the steps of detecting a handwritten pattern that is entered by a user on an input area on a screen, and recognizing the detected handwritten pattern. The step of recognizing returns a best interpretation of the handwritten pattern and at least one alternative interpretation of the handwritten pattern. The method further comprises the steps of presenting the best interpretation in a presentation area on the screen, wherein the presentation area overlaps the input area, and presenting the at least one alternative interpretation in the presentation area. A device for recognition of a handwritten pattern comprises a screen for user interaction, which screen comprises an input area, which is sensitive to handwritting, and a presentation area, which overlaps the input area.

A cross media bar is provided wherein a user selects an alphanumeric character based on a pronunciation of a Chinese character (e.g., Piny in method of Chinese text enter) that the user desires to input into the electronic equipment. The candidate characters associated with the selected character are displayed in a first format (e.g. a substantially horizontal format) on a display (14) of the electronic equipment. The user is then able to select at least one candidate Chinese character that corresponds to the selected pronunciation. The candidate Chinese characters are displayed to the user in a second format (e.g., a substantially vertical format) on the display. The candidate Chinese characters extend across the portion of the display presenting the candidate characters.
