摘要： Fiber optic distribution cables and methods for manufacturing the same are disclosed. The fiber optic distribution cables present one or more optical fibers outward of the protective covering for distribution of the same toward the subscriber. In one fiber optic distribution cable, a length of distribution optical fiber that is removed from the distribution cable and presented outward of the protective covering is longer than the opening at access location. In another embodiment, a demarcation point is provided for inhibiting the movement (i.e., pistoning) of the distribution optical fiber into and out of the distribution cable. In still another embodiment, an indexing tube is provided for indexing a tether tube within the indexing tube for providing the distribution optical fiber with a suitable excess fiber length. Additionally, other embodiments may include a fiber optic distribution cable having a dry construction and/or a non-round cross-section.

摘要： A fiber optic plug assembly of a fiber optic connector assembly is provided and generally includes a fiber optic plug (10) mounted upon an end of a fiber optic cable (50); a pre-molded boot (30) placed over the fiber optic plug (10) and the fiber optic.cable (50); and a crimp band (20) mated over the pre-molded boot (30) to secure the boot (30) to the fiber optic cable (50); wherein the fiber optic plug assembly is operable to mate to a fiber optic receptacle. The plug assembly eliminates the need for an overmolded boot. Further, the present invention eliminates the need to perform a heat shrink between the buffer tube (32) and crimp body through the internal 0-ring (40). The plug assembly meets the standards of GR-3120-CORE while at the same time providing a simpler hardware package that can be assembled with ordinary connectorization tools.

A connector assembly including a 72 fiber ferrule and force centering structure for applying on-axis force to the ferrule, while preventing off-axis forces generated by a biasing spring from being applied to the ferrule.

摘要： Integrated silicon photonic active optical cable assemblies (ACOAs), as well as sub- assemblies and components for AOCAs, are disclosed. One component is a multifiber ferrule (10) configured to support multiple optical fibers (50) in a planar array. The multifiber ferrule is combined with a fiat top (80) to form a ferrule sub-assembly (100). Embodiments of a unitary fiber guide member (280) that combines the features of the multifiber ferrule and the fiat top is also disclosed. The ferrule sub-assembly (100) or the fiber guide member (280) is combined with a photonic light circuit (PLC) silicon substrate (120) with transmitter (TX) and receiver (RX) units to form a PLC assembly (200). The PLC assembly is combined with a printed circuit board and an electrical connector to form an ACOA(400). An extendable cable assembly that utilizes at least one ACOA is also described.
