    • The present disclosure relates to a one dimensional or two dimensional coordination polymer comprising a plurality of repeating coordination units, wherein the repeating coordination unit comprises a metal coordinated with a π-conjugated organic compound, and wherein the repeating coordination units are conjugated to one another. The disclosure also relates to a two dimensional structure comprising the self-assembled one dimensional coordination polymers. The disclosure also relates an assembly comprising a substrate and one or more one dimensional or two dimensional coordination polymers deposited thereon. The disclosure also relates to a process for producing the one dimensional or two dimensional coordination polymer, the process comprising: co-depositing the metal and the π-conjugated organic compound on a substrate. The disclosure also relates to: a use of the one dimensional or two dimensional coordination polymer for spintronic, molecular electronic, and/or catalysis applications; a fuel cell comprising the one dimensional or two dimensional coordination polymer; and a molecular magnet comprising the one dimensional or two dimensional coordination polymer.
