    • Positioning and location services are provided in a wireless communication network (200) using civic address information. The civic address information may comprise a data structure including textual Information Elements such as apartment or office number, street number, street name, city, state, postal code, and the like. A positioning method is defined comprising performing a civic address lookup to obtain (14) a location in civic address format for an identified node (216), based upon information about the identified node's serving (or associated) node (220) and neighbor nodes (222). Signaling is defined to request the civic address positioning method, to exchange capabilities, to communicate (20, 114, 118) location information using a civic address format, report (124) a positioning failure and optionally the failure cause, and the like. Location information may be translated (116) between a civic address format and a 3GPP or 3GPP2 positioning format. The positioning method and associated signaling are particularly advantageous in indoor environments, where conventional positioning methods fare poorly or fail altogether.

    • Apparatus for spatially correcting an image frame comprising an array of pixel values is disclosed. The apparatus is configured to store a frame of pixel values and scan a multi -pixel correction window across the frame of pixel values. Spatial correction is carried out on pixels values within the correction window at correction positions during said scan. The spatial correction comprises estimating a pixel value at a value estimation position within the window at a correction position based on one or more pixels values within the window for pixel values within the window satisfying a logical condition. The value estimation position corresponds to a pixel value in said frame which will not fall within said window again during said scan of said frame. Further disclosed is apparatus for detecting high-energy radiation, in which charge read-out circuits including charge integration circuitry for integrating charge responsive to a radiation photon interaction event in a high-energy radiation detector are automatically controllable in accordance with an exposure control signal to vary an exposure window duration dependent on an operating parameter of said apparatus.

    • One or more embodiments of the present invention provide a scanning system for imaging one or more objects, comprising: an imaging element; a conveyor for providing relative movement between an object to be scanned and said imaging element; said imaging element comprising a high-energy radiation emitter and a high-energy radiation detector spaced from the high-energy radiation emitter to allow passage of the object to be scanned between the high-energy radiation emitter and radiation detector, and the high-energy radiation detector operative to receive radiation emitted from said high- energy radiation emitter and incident on said object; wherein said high-energy radiation detector comprises two or more detection elements disposed in a direction of relative motion of the object to be scanned and said imaging element, with each detection element operative to detect high-energy radiation received at the high-energy radiation detector in a particular energy range.
