    • The present invention relates to novel use of lignan compounds, and more particularly, the present invention relates to novel use of an extract of the aril of nutmeg, 2- (4-allyl-2, 6-dimethoxyphenoxy) -1- (4-hydroxy- 3 -methoxyphenyl) -propane, austrobailignan 7 or licarin E, for preventing or treating diabetes or PPARγ-mediated diseases. The said compound and extract of the aril of nutmeg act as ligands for PPARy, and they may be used for preventing or treating PPARγ-mediated diseases, not limited thereto, such as diabetes and diabetic complication. Accordingly, 2- (4-allyl-2, 6- dimethoxyphenoxy) -1- (4 -hydroxy-3 -methoxyphenyl) -propane, austrobailignan 7 or licarin E and extract of the aril of nutmeg may be useful as preventing or treating agent for PPARγ-mediated diseases, not limited thereto, such as diabetes and diabetic complication.

    • Disclosed herein is a minor channel selection method for digital televisions. The method comprises storing a major channel number in response to an input of the major channel number, followed by determining whether or not the major channel number is consistently input for a first preset time; determining whether or not a minor channel number is input before an elapse of a second preset time after a complete input of the major channel number, if the major channel number is consistently input for the first preset time; and selecting a minor channel corresponding to the minor channel number, if the minor channel number is input before the elapse of the second preset time. With this method, it is possible to conveniently select a minor channel since no delimiter is needed to be inputted between major and minor channel numbers to divide them from each other.

    • There are provided a method of manufacturing an Fe/Ni-containing material having a low content of sulfur (S) from an Fe/Ni/SO 4 -containing liquid waste, a ferronickel mass using the Fe/Ni-containing material, and a method of manufacturing the ferronickel mass. The method of manufacturing an Fe/Ni-containing material from an Fe/Ni-containing liquid waste includes: removing SO 4 from an Fe/Ni/SO 4 -containing liquid waste by adding an SO 4 neutralizing agent to the liquid waste so that pH of the liquid waste can be maintained to a pH level of 0.5 to 2.5; precipitating Fe and Ni in the form of hydroxide [(Ni,Fe)(OH)] by adding NaOH to the SO 4 -free solution; washing the precipitate with water; and manufacturing an Ni/Fe-containing material by filtering and drying the washed Ni/Fe-containing sludge. The method of manufacturing an Fe/Ni-containing material may be useful to suitably apply to the field of recycling of waste acids since an Fe/Ni-containing pellet and a high purity plaster are recovered as the stainless steel material from the waste water at the same time.
