    • A preferred embodiment utilizes the waste heat from a refrigerant cycle to aid in the removal of condensate from a refrigerated case used primarily by grocery stores. Certain embodiments use a heating element (62) to boil off condensate or a pump (54) to remove the condensate. Another embodiment utilizes a wicking element (64) and a shroud (68) that directs hot air from the condenser through the wick thereby increasing the condensate evaporation rate, Yet another embodiment utilizes the hot gas tube (70) from the refrigeration system routed through the bottom of the condensate tray to pre-heat the condensate to accelerate evaporation. Alternative embodiments combine certain features to create even more efficient system such as a heating element used with the wick system or the hot gas system used with the wick system. In some embodiments, a mold and mildew inhibitor is added to the condensate to maintain cleanliness.

    • The invention relates to a device for coupling a battery (2) to a mains-supplied intermediate voltage circuit of a converter. According to the invention, this device has two capacitors (CE, CA), two rectifier bridge branches (18, 20) which are connected electrically in parallel to a capacitor (CE, CA), a choke (L) which interconnects the center terminals (30, 32) of the two rectifier bridge branches (18, 20), a power semiconductor switch (V5) which allows the positive terminals (28, 26) of the two rectifier bridge branches to be interconnected, and an electronic control system (6) with downstream driver stages (8), which generates control signals (S1,...,S5) from the actual values (UBat, UZK, IL, IBat), a mains failure signal (UNAF) and a choke current reference value (I*L). This provides a battery coupling device in which the battery (2) is not continuously a.c.-loaded and it is possible to take care of the battery to extend its useful life.
