    • The present invention relates to a locking device for locking an adaptor onto the nose of an excavator bucket. The locking device includes a locking member for engaging with the nose. A pin arrangement including two pins is inserted into opposite sides of the locking member, adaptor and nose. The adaptor can be locked onto the nose upon rotation of the pins. In both specific embodiments presented, fastening and unfastening of the device is a simple two-step process. Further, the adaptor load may be distributed in a balanced manner along the locking device whereby the locking elements together engage with the adaptor on opposite sides of the nose and the locking member engages with the nose.

    • A locking device (40) is disclosed which is used in combination with a holding member (30) in securing an excavator tooth point member ("tooth") (10) do an adapter (20). The locking device (40) has a threaded rod ("screw") (44) which can be turned in one direction to cause a pair of locking tabs (52) to project out from the casing of the locking device. The screw (44) can also be turned in the other direction to cause the pair of locking tabs (52) to retract back into the casing. In order to secure the tooth (10) on the adapter (20), the tooth (10) is positioned on a nose (21) of the adapter so that apertures (12) in the tooth come into register with aperture (22) in the adapter. The holding member (30) is then inserted axially into the registered apertures (11, 21). The locking device (40), with the lock tabs (52) initially retracted, is then inserted into the apertures along with the holding member (30). Once inserted in this way, the screw (44) can be rotated to extend the locking tabs so that the tabs project into notches (61), thereby securing locking device (40) in position.
