摘要： A medical device and method for drug delivery employing a 3 -dimensional pattern of a polymer support material (e.g., that is degradable after implant in a body), a drug associated with the polymer support material, and an adhesive that adheres the polymer support material and associated drug to body tissue. The adhesive may persist to maintain the device in a suitable position for a suitable time (e.g., until after the polymer support material begins to degrade to release the drug), and the drug may be arranged in discrete areas of the 3- dimensional pattern that are separated from each other. The pattern may be produced in whole or in part before deployment at a body site, or may be produced in whole or in part directly at a tissue surface.

摘要： The present invention provides bariatric therapy systems. One system includes a gastrointestinal implant device and a delivery mechanism therefor. The device can include a sleeve for placement into a small intestine and to minimize absorption of nutrients by its walls. An anchoring mechanism coupled to a proximal end of the sleeve and designed to be secured within the stomach can be provided. A passageway extending through the anchoring mechanism and the sleeve can also be provided, along which food can be directed from the stomach to the small intestine. The delivery mechanism can include a housing for accommodating the device, and a deploying balloon situated within the housing and which can be actuated to direct the sleeve of the device from within the housing to the site of implantation. Methods for providing bariatric therapy are also provided by the present invention.

摘要： The performance of an individual is monitored based on measurements of a conformal sensor device. An example system includes a communication module to receive data indicative of a measurement of at least one sensor component of the conformal sensor device. The sensor component obtains measurement of acceleration data representative of an acceleration proximate to the portion of the individual. A comparison of a parameter computed based on the sensor component measurement to a preset performance threshold value provides an indication of the performance of the individual.
