    • A method for analysing the results of a ligand-receptor binding assay wherein a traditional washing step is avoided comprising: combining reagents in which receptors attached to a solid support, a sample suspected of containing a ligand, and a conjugate comprising a label form a complex in which the label is present at a concentration that is directly proportional to the amount of ligand present in the sample or at a concentration that is inversely proportional to the amount of analyte present in the sample. Providing a digital image of the sedimented/immobilised support at two different types of illumiation and subtracting the images digitally in order to only identify binding events and not components of the reaction. Quantification of intensity of images so produced being compared to a standard curve in order to provide concentration of analyte.
