    • The present invention relates to a scratch-resistant micro- and/or nanostructured surface comprising a plurality of micro-scale and/or nano-scale surface elements, said surface being essentially unchanged when being subjected to 10 rubbing cycles according to A.A.T.C.C. test method 8-1972 using a cotton cloth and a total stamp weight of 300 g, and comprising a polymeric material having 1) an elongation at break of at least 10%, 2) an irreversible relative plastic deformation (permanent set) of less than 2% and a 3) a tensile strength of at least 5 MPa. The present invention furthermore relates to a hydrophobic micro- and/or nanostructured surface comprising a plurality of micro-scale and/or nano-scale surface elements and having a static contact angle against water of at least 90, said surface comprising a polymeric material having 1) an elongation at break of at least 10%, 2) an irreversible relative plastic deformation (permanent set) of less than 2% and a 3) a tensile strength of at least 5 MPa.

    • An optical system is disclosed that includes a housing that has an interior, a reflective interior surface, and a first opening. The optical system further includes a spatial light modulator that is disposed proximate the first opening and a light source that is disposed within the interior of the housing. The spatial light modulator modulates the light that is emitted by the light source to form image rays. The optical system further includes a first light redirecting film that is disposed proximate the first opening between the spatial light modulator and the light source. The first light redirecting film recycles at least a portion of the light that is emitted by the light source. The optical system further includes an optically absorptive film that is disposed proximate the first opening between the spatial light modulator and the viewing position. The optically absorptive film receives the image rays from the spatial light modulator and displays the received image rays to the viewing position.

    • A medical article and methods of using same. The medical article can include a machine direction (MD) and a cross-machine direction (CMD); a support layer; and a viscoelastic layer. The viscoelastic layer can be coupled to the support layer, and the viscoelastic layer can be discontinuous in the MD and/or the CMD. The viscoelastic layer can recover at least 70 % of its deformation after 48 hours at room temperature after being strained to 50% elongation, such that the medical article has a first tensile stiffness T 1 at a first strain rate S 1 , and a second tensile stiffness T 1 at a second strain rate S 1 . The ratio of S 1 /S 2 can be at least 100, and the ratio of T 1 /T 2 can be at least 1.5. The method can include wrapping the medical article around a body part; applying the first strain rate S 1 ; and applying the second strain rate S 2 .

    • The disclosed compression device comprises a sleeve with straps for applying compression to a limb. The sleeve is provided with a plurality of rings in series releasably or fixedly attached by a strap. At least a portion of said strap is expandable. When the expandable portion is in its non- expanded state there is exteriorly a loop of material rising outwardly and when, in use under the provision of tension in the transverse direction of the sleeve, the expandable portion expands in the transverse direction and the loop flattens. The device further comprises a plurality of strip- shaped mechanical fastening tabs, wherein a single tab is provided for each ring. The tabs and rings are configured and arranged such that, in use, the tabs are passed through the rings, turned back on themselves such that the first lateral side edge of the sleeve is drawn towards the rings and then fastened so that the sleeve is tightened and restrained about the limb of the user.
