摘要： Disclosed is a method of forming an aperture masking article (1a, 1b), the method comprising the steps of extruding a polymer material through a die (14) in an extrusion direction (A) to form a extruded blank (15) having a first side (16) and an opposing second side (17), the die(14) having a profile, parallel to the extrusion direction, corresponding to the cross-section of at least one aperture masking article (1a, 1b); and recovering at least one aperture masking article (1a, 1b, from the extruded blank (15), comprising a backing having first surface and an opposing second surface, and a gap filler, the gap filler being integral with the backing at the second surface. Alternatively, the method may be used to produce a component of an aperture masking article (1a, 1b).

摘要： A method of making an edge masking strip for masking an edge of a substrate to be painted is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of: (i) providing a precursor edge masking strip material; (ii) adapting the precursor edge masking strip material so that it forms an edge masking strip having a first face adapted to attach to a mounting surface, said first face comprising a first portion adapted to contact the mounting surface and a second portion adapted to co-operate with the mounting surface to form a space with an open end in line of sight of a paint spray, and (iii) adapting the structure of the second portion of the precursor edge masking strip material by either removing material from the precursor edge masking strip material or shaping the precursor edge masking strip material.

摘要： A sensor assembly comprises a capacitive proximity sensor (1) mounted to a shaped surface of a body, such as the internal surface (10) of a vehicle bumper (11), to sense the presence of external objects. The sensor comprises a dielectric film substrate (2) having front and rear major surfaces that, in use, face respectively outwards and inwards of the body, a sensor conductor (6) on the front major surface, and a guard conductor (8) on the rear major surface to provide an electrical shield for the sensor conductor. The surface (10) to which the sensor (1) is mounted is one that does not provide a substantially flat area for direct attachment of the sensor, at least in the sensor conductor region, and, with a view to ensuring the correct functioning of the sensor, the sensor mounting is designed to inhibit the ingress and retention of water/dirt between the sensor and the shaped surface, and to enable a major part of the sensor substrate to be maintained in a substantially flat condition at least in the sensor conductor region.
