摘要： The present disclosure relates to a profiled masking article and method of masking a substrate to be treated or painted that provides a feathered or soft edge between painted and unpainted areas. The masking article described herein may be used as a single strip, or as multiple strips, placed side by side, wherein a strip is removed between treatments of different types. This allows successive treatment layers to completely cover previous layers, thus avoiding defects resulting from exposed layers of material. In an embodiment, the present disclosure is directed to a masking article comprising: at least one elongate body (12), said body (12) having a top surface, a bottom surface and at least two lateral surfaces, wherein at least a portion of said body comprises an adhesive material; and a generally planar top portion (14), connected to the body along at least one surface, said top portion (14) having a microstructured surface.

摘要： The present disclosure is generally directed to illumination devices, and particularly directed to illumination devices utilizing light transmissive layers and methods for making the same. An illumination device and method for making the device are disclosed. The device, in particular, includes a substrate and conductive region disposed on the substrate. One or more light sources, such as LEDs, are disposed on a surface of the substrate and electrically coupled to the electrically conductive region for supply of electric current. The device also includes one or more light transmissive layers disposed on the substrate and the at least one light source to encapsulate light sources and also to control characteristics of light delivery from the light sources as light passes through the light transmissive layers.

摘要： The method of the present invention is directed to masking or protecting a substrate utilizing a protection sheet (10) having a contact surface containing a plurality of protrusions (14) spaced apart by a plurality valleys (12), and an opposing back surface containing a plurality of hollow portions corresponding to the protrusions (14). The valleys (12) of the contact surface of the protection sheet (10) are coated with a pressure sensitive adhesive (16), while the protrusions (14) provide spacing which prevents premature sticking of the protection sheet (10) onto the substrate. The invention is particularly suited for use in automotive repair applications.

摘要： Methods for imparting an image to a painted exterior surface on a motor vehicle and kits for use in such methods are described. The methods include applying a mask to an outer clearcoat layer of the painted exterior surface, the mask having a masked portion that covers part of the clearcoat layer and an open portion that leaves part of the clear coat layer exposed, the masked and open portions cooperating to define the image, abrading the exposed part of the clearcoat layer to provide it with a matte finish, and removing the mask to reveal an image having a matte finish region and an unabraded region. The clearcoat layer in the matte finish region of the image is capable of being provided with a surface gloss appearance that is consistent with the surface gloss appearance of the clearcoat layer in the unabraded region of the image and without painting the surface of the motor vehicle. The kits comprise a mask that is adapted to be removably attached to the outer clearcoat layer and an abrasive that is capable of removing a portion of the outer clearcoat layer to generate an image having a matte finish region and an unabraded region, and one or more materials that may be used to provide the outer clearcoat layer in the matte finish region of the image with a surface gloss appearance that is consistent with the surface gloss appearance of the clearcoat layer in the unabraded region of the image.

摘要： Provided are abrasive articles having a plurality of elongated channels extending across its working surface and intersecting with each other. These channels provide hinge points that enhance flexibility of the article along two or more directions. Optionally, the abrasive article includes a flexible attachment layer, along with apertures that penetrate through the attachment layer located at the intersection points of the channels. The enhanced flexibility allows the abrasive article to easily access recessed areas of the workpiece and facilitates applying even pressure across convex and concave surfaces. The channels assist in segregating dust particles from the abrading operation, and the optional apertures can be advantageously connected to a vacuum source for evacuation of the dust particles from the channels.

For example, the CLD management system includes a database that stores label data for a plurality of vehicles produced by a plurality of different manufacturers. The CLD management system presents an interface to receive an electronic communication from a client computing device associated with a repair shop. The electronic communication includes a request for label data associated with an original vehicle label. The CLD management system retrieves the requested label data from the database and communicates the label data to an output device for printing a new vehicle label for use by the repair shop.
