    • A solid catalyst component for olefin polymerization in which the molar ratio of residual alkoxy groups to titanium supported is 0.60 or lower, which is obtained by reacting the following compound a1 with the following compound b1 in such a proportion that the hydroxy/magnesium molar ratio is 1.0 or higher, reacting the resultant reaction product with the following compound c1 in such a proportion that the halogen/magnesium molar ratio is 0.20 or higher, reacting the resultant reaction product with the following compounds d1 and e at a temperature of 120°C to 150°C, cleaning the resultant reaction product with an inert solvent, subsequently reacting the compound e again at that temperature, and cleaning the reaction product with an inert solvent. It has high catalytic activity. With this catalyst component, an olefin polymer reduced in residual C1 and excellent in stereoregulatiry and powder form is obtained. a1 An oxide of at least one element selected among the elements of Groups II to IV, the oxide having, supported thereon, a halogenated magnesium compound containing no alcohol. b1 An alcohol. c1 A halogenated silicon compound. d1 An electron-donating compound. e A halogenated titanium compound.
