    • A system includes a heat exchange catheter line assembly (10 and/or 16, 18) configured to convey working fluid circulating to and from at least one heat exchange element on an intravascular heat exchange catheter (10). The system also includes a heat exchange system (12) that itself includes a processor (30) and is configured for fluidly communicating with the heat exchange catheter line assembly (16, 18) to exchange heat with the working fluid. A near field communication (NFC) member (28) associated with the heat exchange system and an NFC element (24) associated with the heat exchange catheter line assembly (16, 18) are also included. The NFC member (28) is configured to provide the processor (30) with a signal representative of whether the NFC member (28) detects the NFC element (24).
