摘要： A defibrillator (14) in which electrodes with a limited shelf life are stored largely out of view from the exterior of the unit, but the expiration date or other marking indicative of expiration or failure is positioned so as to be visible from the exterior of the defibrillation unit. A fracturable member (12) is attached to the defibrillation unit so that opening the defibrillation unit requires fracturing the member, thereby providing an indication of whether the unit has been opened. Electrodes are releasably attached to the inside cover (16) of the defibrillator, so that when the cover is removed the electrodes remain with the cover.

摘要： A combination of a defibrillator and an electrode package, the combination comprising a defibrillator comprising electrical output wires for delivering a defibrillation pulse to defibrillation electrodes, processing circuitry and associated software for controlling the delivery of the defibrillation pulse, an electrical energy storage element for storing the energy delivered in the defibrillation pulse, a user interface element or elements connected to the processing circuitry for accepting one or more inputs from the user and communicating one or more pieces of information to the user, a housing containing the storage element, processing circuitry, and user interface, and a first mechanical element or elements on the exterior of the housing and configured so that an electrode package can be mechanically attached to the exterior of the housing substantially in full view on the exterior, and an electrode package containing the defibrillation electrodes, the package comprising an outer shell, a portion of the outer shell configured to be opened to remove the electrodes, two or more defibrillation electrodes sealed inside the electrode package, and a second mechanical element or elements on the exterior of the outer shell and configured to mate with the first mechanical element on the housing of the defibrillator to mechanically attach the package to the housing.

The device also includes a first magnet mounted to the door, wherein magnetic force applied to the door exerts a moment on the door, and a second magnet mounted in the housing and positioned to hold the door shut by magnetic interaction with the first magnet. In addition, the device includes a user-movable mode-changing mechanism attached to a third magnet, and arranged to hold the third magnet out of proximity with the first and second magnets when the device is in a first mode, and to move the third magnet into proximity with the first and second magnets when the device is in a second mode so as to expel the first magnet away from the housing and open the door to expose items positioned behind the door.
