    • An internal combustion engine relates to piston-type machines and its mechanism (4) for transforming the reciprocating movement of the piston (2) of the cylinder (1) into rotational movement of the crankshaft (5) kinematically connects the rod (6) of the piston (2) of the cylinder with the crankpin (7) of the crankshaft (5) and consists of a link gear. The transforming mechanism (4) is formed by a through slot (8) made in the rod (6) and inclined at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the rod (6) and by the crankpin (7) of the crankshaft (5), located in the through slot (8) of the rod (6) and moved along said slot (8) during the motion of the rod and rotation of the shaft. As a result, at the moment of maximum gas pressure in the combustion chamber the crankpin (7) is located at the maximum distance from the longitudinal axis of the rod which produces the maximum torque for rotation of the crankshaft. This allows the efficiency of the engine to be increased without increasing the fuel consumption.
