摘要： Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to an optical device, such as an eyepiece, including multiple layers of waveguides. The optical device can include an edge sealant for reducing light contamination, a lamination dam to restrict the wicking of the edge sealant between layers of the optical device, and venting gap (s) in the sealant and dam to allow air flow between the exterior and interior of the eyepiece. The gap(s) allow outgassing from the interior of the eyepiece of unreacted polymer and/or accumulated moisture, to prevent defect accumulation caused by chemical reaction of outgassed chemicals with the (e.g., ionic, acidic, etc.) surface of the eyepiece layers. The gap(s) also prevent pressure differences which may physically deform the eyepiece over time.

摘要： Forming an adhesive layer on a nanoimprint lithography template or a double-sided disk. Forming the adhesive layer on the double-sided disk includes immersing the double-sided disk in a liquid adhesive composition and removing the double-sided disk from the adhesive composition. The outer layer of the double-sided disk is a carbon overcoating or an intermediate layer. The adhesive composition is dried to form a first adhesion layer adhered directly to the carbon overcoating or intermediate layer on a first side of the disk and a second adhesion layer adhered directly to the carbon overcoating or intermediate layer on a second side of the disk. Forming the adhesive layer on the nanoimprint lithography template includes applying an adhesive material to the template, allowing the template to remain motionless, and rinsing a portion of the adhesive material from the template with a solvent, and drying the template.

摘要： In an example method for forming a variable optical viewing optics assembly (VOA) for a head mounted display, a prepolymer is deposited onto a substrate having a first optical element for the VOA. Further, a mold is applied to the prepolymer to conform the prepolymer to a curved surface of the mold on a first side of the prepolymer and to conform the prepolymer to a surface of the substrate on a second side of the prepolymer opposite the first side. Further, the prepolymer is exposed to actinic radiation sufficient to form a solid polymer from the prepolymer, such that the solid polymer forms an ophthalmic lens having a curved surface corresponding to the curved surface of the mold, and the substrate and the ophthalmic lens form an integrated optical component. The mold is released from the solid polymer, and the VOA is assembled using the integrated optical component.
